Final Project: Podcasting/audio projects

Students like to talk. Students like to do things themselves and students like to see results. For these and other reasons I thought a good final project would be to explore podcasting.

Most of my project included hours of me in front of the computer "getting to know" garageband/other applications, reading about podcasting, creating and online library account to upload my audio files to a server and just figuring out the logistics and practical use of this technology.
I also created a lesson plan, assignment sheet and instruction sheet for my students if and when I actually do this project.... one day.... in my classroom.

What have I learned in IP&T?

I learned that technology is, should be, and can be my friend. ESPECIALLY as an educator. there are all sorts of resources out there that are made to assist me in both the classroom and everyday life. Taking a moment to find and become familiar with such helps so much, and saves time in the long run. For example, this a couple months ago I was introduced to googledocs. This little tool has been a lifesaver, a great way to open, edit and save documents. I has been especially useful for opening docx files from others that are incompatible with my computer. Anyways, there are such benefits as this to technology. Although sometimes it doesn't seem like it, shortcuts and widgets and other tools are worthwhile, even if I have to look for and learn them.

Also, I am not so bad off technologically after all. This class has shown me that there is a lot about technology/computers/internet that others don't know that I take for granted.

One last thing I have learned, is that I hate "waiting" for computers to work/think. I can't sit and work at a computer for more than a couple hours without going nuts, and nothing gets me more upset than when computer's crash. It is a lot harder for me to be patient with a computer than with a person.

All in all, what I have taken from this class is this :Technology is a help not a hinderance, you just need to become friends.
